Landscape Marketing Survey

With funding from CUWCC, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and the California Urban Water Agencies, a comprehensive marketing study of landscape water use efficiency was conducted by the Institute of Applied Research and Policy Analysis (IAR) and the Water Resources Institute (WRI) at California State University, San Bernardino.

For this study, homeowners and landscape property managers were surveyed about their irrigation behaviors and attitudes about water conservation messages. Interesting findings include: People underestimate or are completely unaware of the amount of water they use on their gardens, and nearly two out of three landscape property managers do not have irrigation systems that shut off when it rains.
